Where to Donate Clothes

It’s sometimes hard to part with your favourite fashion items and donate your clothes.

It’s so much easier to donate your clothes when you know they’re either going to a good home or a worthy cause.

Below you’ll find some places in the US where you can donate your clothes. Just remember to clean them first!

Where to donate clothes:

  • Vietnam Veterans of America
    You can help our much loved and respected veterans obtain the services they need by donating your used clothes. Visit www.vva.org/donate
  • The Salvation Army
    You can donate your unwanted clothes to The Salvation Army. Your donated clothes will stock the Salvation Army store, or to provide clothing for those who use the Salvation Army’s homeless shelters. They offer free pickups. Visit www.salvationarmyusa.org
  • Dress for Success
    Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence. They accept donations of clothing in order to help with their mission. Visit www.dressforsuccess.org
  • Homeless Shelters
    Donate your unwanted clothes to your local homeless shelter. Be sure to call ahead to find out how they like to accept their donations, sometimes they prefer them to be bagged, boxed, or mailed in. Find your nearest homeless shelter via www.homelesssheltersusa.org
  • Goodwill
    You can donate your clothes to Goodwill who will resell them in their stores. Proceeds will fund job training and placement programs for those who face unemployment challenges, such as the disabled. Visit www.goodwill.org
  • St. Vincent de Paul
    Members of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul (or “Vincentians” ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. By donating your clothes to St. Vincent de Paul, you can help provide direct help to the poor in the local communities throughout the United States. Visit www.svdpusa.org

Tip: keep a bag in your closet and slowly put the items you haven’t worn in a while in it.
